I am lucky to be a NetGalley reviewer and a member of the best book club ever - TBConFB - and so have a never ending supply of reading materials which makes a one happy lady.Jirinkahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654637093946497004noreply@blogger.comBlogger170125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4521159971018604618.post-12900358157197930872024-02-28T15:12:00.001+00:002024-02-28T15:12:37.146+00:00The Descent by Paul E Hardisty<p><b><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"></span></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs6XSOXox3AF1dpGh0Q8D8_49edsLcPrehKmhx4jGbPuHewZDRyKHhy-Tyd8uPgtxfn7avg8oJpxuIf3XKPYs13uyWwaSUmnH4kdRll9sDxJUYq_C0yc85OwFCmFG5uz-HlFK3RAdIHqR7_ohfaIExmhHo0BHlBTDuvv6cJZdXlUtyOJyXzCIcgHeccsw/s500/200571443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="323" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs6XSOXox3AF1dpGh0Q8D8_49edsLcPrehKmhx4jGbPuHewZDRyKHhy-Tyd8uPgtxfn7avg8oJpxuIf3XKPYs13uyWwaSUmnH4kdRll9sDxJUYq_C0yc85OwFCmFG5uz-HlFK3RAdIHqR7_ohfaIExmhHo0BHlBTDuvv6cJZdXlUtyOJyXzCIcgHeccsw/s320/200571443.jpg" width="207" /></a></b></div><b>Synopsis:</b><p></p>

Another
cracking book from Chantelle Atkins. Food for thought, cleverly written story
that keeps you going. I love the short chapters written from the point of view
of various animals, it adds fab atmosphere to the books. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">The series carries on with the story of two groups of children left
behind in a world where a virus has wiped out most of the adult population. They
have to learn to hunt, grown food and look after livestock whilst defending
their territory from anything unknown. The story is shown from two sides of the
human character – one, the Carters and friend, being sympathetic with nature, understanding
the damage we have done to it ad making amends meaning a simple life
co-habiting with plants and animals. The other group, Gus Beckett and his
followers, are the fighters – shooting animals out of rage, hunger and fear –
fighting amongst themselves, thinking they have no other choice but defend with
violence. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">And then the third group get thrown into the mix – the religious group,
led by one more surviving adult. Charming, dressed all in white, separated into
groups by gender, age, and looks and led by bible preaching David. They
overtook the whole town with all it’s supplies of food, so they seem to have
the upper hand.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">This is though provoking, quick-read, that makes you really think –
which group would you belong to – and what chances do they all stand against
the angry earth that seems to want to take itself back. I cannot wait for the
third book!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

close and enemies closer and work things out whilst trying to lead a normal
life. That, unfortunately doesn’t work for long. JJ feels like he’s going
crazy, Daisy feels the presence of an unseen force and their families are being
watched and attacked from all sides. Decision to explore the tunnels reveals
more secrets and put them in further danger. Not knowing who they can trust
makes things just a tad more complicated.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">Lured by rumours of tropical sanctuary, a
disparate group of men and women escape their inhospitable exile to seek
freedom, in a near future where civilization has collapsed. A cataclysmic,
clarion-call climate-change thriller from one of the world's leading
environmental scientists...<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">Civilisation is collapsing. Frustrated and
angry after years of denial and inaction, a 'government of youth' has taken
power in North America and deemed all those older than a prescribed age
responsible for the current state of the world, and decreed they should be
'relocated', their property and assets confiscated.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">David Ashworth, known by his friends and
students as Teacher, and his wife May, find themselves among the thousands
being moved to ‘new accommodation' in the abandoned southern deserts – thrown
together with a wealthy industrialist and his wife, a high court lawyer, two
recent immigrants to America, and a hospital worker. Together, they must come
to terms with their new lives in a land rendered unrecognisable.</span><span style="color: #1e1915; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt;"><br />
<br />
<span style="background: white;">As the terrible truth of their situation is
revealed, lured by rumours of a tropical sanctuary where they can live in
peace, they plan a perilous escape. But the world outside is more dangerous
than they could ever have imagined. And for those who survive, nothing will
ever be the same again...<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

I
cannot imagine a world in which younger generations would openly blame and the
older generations for global warming and the demise of the planet, however, I
think books like this can come as a warning to us all to take some action and
change our ways. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">David’s journey is a hard one and I really appreciated the changes of
timeline to current day and the past as it broke up the harshness with hope. At
first I found David slightly weak, as if he has given up, but the love for his
wife and hope for better life spurred him on. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">This is exactly the sort of book I enjoy, enough to be fiction but also
enough to come as a warning to what could happen if we don’t open our eyes to
reality. And it is exactly the sort of book, everyone should read and kids
should be taught about at secondary school. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">JJ hasn’t
spoken to Darcie since the social services took him away from his uncle but
doesn’t blame her anymore. His uncle is trying to stay clean to get JJ’s care
back and, in the meantime, JJ has to keep his head low, whilst living with his
foster family. JJ has learned how to control the mysterious mist that flows
from his body too.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Then
everything changes when the ‘police’ knock on his door and take him away. When JJ
wakes up, his life has changed again and not for the better. Now he’s stuck in
a room, handcuffed and drugged and the mean lady knows about his powers – he has
nowhere to hide, just hoping Darcie and his uncle don’t give up looking for
him.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">And as
for Darcie – well, she uncovers more secrets than she’s bargained for in this

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">First
book in Fortune’s Well series and a great start what I feel will be a fab
YA/supernatural world series. I still love reading stories aimed at a young
audience, especially those that combine the world of magic and mystery with
reality of the challenging world of growing young adults.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Darcey
grew up with a wealthy family, has trendy friends and seem to have it all.
Underneath, she is hurt, fragile, struggling to fit in anywhere in the world
since the death of her favourite Aunt Jenna. On top of that she is dealing with
an eating disorder.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Until her
life clashes with the boy from the river – in comes JJ Carson. Mysterious boy
always sketching on his pad, bullied by all the locals. The boy, whose mum
murdered his father in cold blood. JJ lives with his father’s brother Henry,
who himself struggles with alcohol, running a farm and looking into the eye of
a boy that reminds him too much of his brother’s killer. And most of all, Henry
worries, JJ will end up like his crazy mother.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">And
amongst all of this we have the mysteries grey fog, Hangman’s Cottage with it’s
own dark secrets and a whole world of weird that JJ and Darcey unwillingly
enter when they meet and it’s up to them to figure a way out and quickly.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Fab
start, cannot wait to read the next book.</span></p>

New

Violence is normal, everyone is suspect, and 'being a good citizen' seems to be

book in a new series and first book I have read by this author. This is a
provoking, dystopian novel that seem all too familiar with regards to the
environmental issues already facing our planet and global warming that has been
changing our lives for years. This book seems to come as a warning.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Corsa
Moran is an admirable woman, a Senior Detective, in a society where woman’s
place seems to be back at home, having children and cooking healthy meals. The
society is driven by fear, greed for power and Military Intelligence who seem
to overall all. Once they have you, you might never resurface.</span></p>

Corsa isn’t admired. Her own family shuns her, her mother always picking fights
and her own colleagues do not hide their dislike for her. And then the bombings
start and Corsa losing everything. She can only rely on her on instincts and
they lead her straight into some dangerous waters.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Eddie
Collins is my most memorable character from books I have read in the last five
years. Whenever I read a crime book I can’t help myself and compare the
detectives/CSIs to Eddie and Eddie always trumps them all. Not just for his
expertise and clear talent for forensic work but for his character. He is the
grumpiest, most difficult man to work and most likely live with, but he is also
the most real person I have ever come across in fiction books.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Of
course this is all down to Andrew Barrett having such a long experience working
in the Police force and his professional expertise that feeds his books, but
clearly Andrew is also a very talented author that just keeps on giving.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">With
this new first book is Eddie Collins series, we go back to the start, where
Eddie still has a wife, daughter and a dog, at least for a little while. Eddie
gets tangled in a mess of domestic burglaries, murders and an old man with a
secret much bigger and more dangerous than anything Eddie has ever come across.
And when it all comes to light, Eddie is fighting for his life and lives of
others. And this is on top of all the trouble from his personal life.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Andrew’s
books never disappoint. They are fast, full of interesting details not just
from forensics, but other policing fields and above all they are full of
exceptional characters that make the books flow with ease. This is a hold your
breath till the last page sort of book!</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">I
didn’t realise this was a second book in the series and to be fair I think
reading the first would have helped in getting background for some things that
were being hinted at in this book. I feel that I have missed out on some
important information which in turn has made this book a little harder to read
so if you are going to read this book, make sure you read If She Dies first.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Back
to the story. It’s well written and quite fast paced. Tess is in a car
accident. She is driving home with her sister-in-law Torrie when a deer runs
out in front of the car and she crashes the car. Torrie ends up in a coma and
Tess and her husband John end up looking after Torrie’s baby Levi.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">That’s
when Jessie comes on the scene – the sister that Torrie said she didn’t have.
She actually said she had no family, so when Jessie comes on the scene, Tess’s
guard goes up and her suspicions growing, especially since just before Torrie
passed out after the accident it was Jessie’s name she mentioned in fear.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Things
start to go wrong and together with past nightmares still haunting Tess, life
just gets that bit more difficult.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Great
characters, a proper who-done-it and don’t-believe-anyone story. One person
that really irritated me all through the book was husband John. I do feel like
the character was somehow wasted. I also found the story procrastinated at
times but it always picked up the pace again leaving an open ending ready for
the next book.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Beth Harper is a highly gifted spiritual medium and clairvoyant. Having
fled Scarsdale Hall, she's drawn to the remote coastal town of Crewby in north
west England, and it soon becomes apparent she has a job to do. The
congeniality here is but a thin veneer masking decades of deeply embedded
secrets, madness and fear. Although she has help from her spirit guides and
many clues are shown in visions, it isn't until the senseless and ritualistic
murders happen on Mailing Street, however, that the truth is finally unearthed.
And Joe Sully, the investigating officer, is about to have the spiritual
awakening of his life.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">What's buried beneath these houses
though, is far more horrific and widespread than anything either of them could
have imagined. Who is the man in black? What is the black goo crawling all over
the rooftops? What exactly is The Gatehouse? And as for the local hospital, one
night is more than enough for Beth...let alone three...<o:p></o:p></span></p>

book in Beth harper series and things are escalating within the world of
spirits, demons and the good guys like Beth. After leaving Curbeck and
Scarsdale Hall behind and escaping just in time, Beth and Jennie arrive in the
small seaside town of Crewby to try and begin a new life, hidden from Countess
Martel’s sight.</span></p>

follow up to the first book, delving more into Jennie’s story and showing Beth’s
character and powers growing. With the helpful police officer Joe on their
side, they face the dark side once more. The book is skilfully written only
given away as much as necessary, leaving the reader on the edge of their seat
needing more!</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The first in a series of Beth Harper books,
Masquerade is a supernatural thriller set in a remote North Yorkshire village.
Following a whirlwind re-location for a live-in job at the local inn, Beth
quickly realises the whole village is thoroughly haunted, the people here
fearful and cowed.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">As a spiritual medium, her attention is drawn
to Scarsdale Hall nearby, the enormous stately home dominating what is
undoubtedly a wild and beautiful landscape. Built of black stone with majestic
turrets, it seems to drain the energy from the land. There is, she feels,
something malevolent about it, as if time has stopped. With the help of her
spirit guides and the gift of astral travel, she will soon face the most
daunting task of her life. Why is she being shown images of expressionless
children gripping the bars of fairground wheels, forever going around and
around? And why are the lines of women and children walking to Scarsdale Hall
each day, silent and grim-faced?</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Barely a word is spoken here. There is no joy,
no life… Past and present are as entangled as a box of ribbons, her task being
to unravel the darkly disturbing truth laid down centuries before. But are the
embedded secrets too horrific for those involved to ever admit, even to
themselves? As the enormity of the task unfolds and Beth is pitched against one
of the most powerful families on earth, she considers this may be too much for
her. Ultimately, however, this is her journey, too. And she will be pushed to
the limit of her abilities. Besides, as her spirit guide, Billy, says, ‘They’re
still doing it…’Author note: this is not occult horror as such, but a
supernatural mystery based on the very real experiences of a spiritual medium.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Second
book I have read by this author and definitely not the last and what a way to
hook me into a new series. I need more and now. So many questions unanswered!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">So
Beth is a medium/psychic and has all good abilities to help spirits move on and
cleanse dark spirits away – all abilities she has learned off since early
childhood. With the help of her spiritual guide Billy and the spirit of her grandmother
Grace, she deals with situations normal people wouldn’t walk to walk into.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">But
this situation she is thrown into might actually be too much for her. Beth
arrives in a quaint Yorkshire village to be the new cook in the local pub.
Straight off she notices the heavy atmosphere, spirits trapped in all rooms and
staff that seems to live in a trance, avoiding questions at all cost. And there
is the mysteries Mantel family running the whole area. Beth has to face evil,
deciphering a barrage of visions and people’s memories before it’s too late.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">This
book drove me mad. I think I was confused all the way through about 80% of this
book and still some questioned lay unanswered. But I like that, knowing this is
a first book in a new series, so I have some more to look forward to.
Thoroughly enjoyed this and got a little spooked too, so perfect for October time.</span></p>

like it, it gives a feeling of another book coming, whilst this story has been
closed off.</span></p>

uneventful, that is until Detective Tom Miller is transferred there following a
personal tragedy. He is not greeted well by local police officer Beth Harper,
who feels he is not up to the job. The day of his arrival, Kate Marshall, a
teacher at the local school, is beaten in her own home and left for dead. The
villagers are left in a state of shock. Was it a random attack or something
more personal?</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12pt;">Oh
my goodness, what a page turner. I have stayed up till midnight 5 nights in the
row ploughing through this book as I could not put it down. It’s so well
written, keeps you guessing and is filled to the brim with drama and suspense.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12pt;">When
Kate is attacked, the whole village is shocked. She’s a lovely teacher, family
girl and would not hurt a fly. She also lives in a small village, where crime
just doesn’t happen. What’s worse, although Kate survives the horrific attack,
she can’t remember anything about it or what preceded it. She’s stuck in limbo,
hoping one day the truth will come to the surface enough for her to grasp it
and remember.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12pt;">As
no leads come to light for DS Beth Harper and DI Tom Miller, the village slowly
returns to normal, but Beth is a good cop and just knows this is not the end. Whilst
tackling the mystery attack, Beth also fights the newly transferred DI and his own
ghosts from the past. They make an unlikely team, but I was rooting for them
right from the start. The are two separate stories within the book, cleverly interwoven,
so as to add more suspense and mystery.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12pt;">When
another attack happens, things start to unravel pretty quickly. I cannot
recommend this book enough. It’s brilliant.</span></p>

otherworldly creatures lurk in the shadows. Unbeknownst to its citizens, their
only hope against the tide of predators are the dauntless lamplighters - a

Domek Myska leads a life teeming with fraught encounters with the worst kind of

Domek find solace in his moments spent in the company of his friend, the clever

for any fantasy and all things supernatural lovers – it might be slightly more
difficult to read for people not familiar with the Czech words – pijavica (vampire),
vodnik (under water man) etc. But I loved it. It made the book homelier for me.
And of course the good writing and story line really helped.</span></p>

I can confirm that this book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout and it
was well worth staying up till midnight last night to finish it. It gave me proper
creeps, it’s fabulously written, the characters are believable and the books
really gets under your skin.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Story
revolves around the Jackson family. Caprice, the matriarch mother of Miles and
mother-in-law to Saffron. Miles, the preferred son, the philosopher, a devoted
husband to Saffron and father to their two boys Ben and Harry. Saffron, the
lawyer, working mother, the breadwinner of the family, constantly critised by Caprice
for not being good enough wife, mother and a woman. And then comes Hayleigh,
the nanny, attractive, young girl with the hots for Miles.</span></p>

a reader you enter diary-style story from the point of view of Caprice, Miles,
Aiden (Miles’s brother), Saffron and Hayleigh. Story of corruption, jealousy,
love, strength and plotting. It’s fantastical, but highly intelligent and it’s
a proper battle of wit, truth and trust. And every time you think you’ve sassed
it, come another twist you didn’t expect.</span></p>
